About

For quite some time now I have been wanting to collate all these ideas that are going around in my head. I have always wanted to write my own 'non-recipe' book, but have never had the time (cough, motivation) to get started. Well, for me, this is the beginning. The beginning of my book.

For someone who is doing a blog based on recipes, I rarely (I am talking once or twice ever in my life), have measured out the ingredients when I am cooking. And that's something that I want my book to encompass - that cooking has no  restrictions.  If you have some sort of an idea of the basic ratio of ingredients (i.e. flour to milk), you know how to cook, right?  But I am open-minded enough to know that this doesn't work for a lot of people and exact measurements are desirable.  Therefore, I have included measurements in my recipes, to be used only as a guide. Open your mind to the creative outlet cooking can be, and change things/ingredients around a little.  And have fun doing it.  All my recipes have not encompassed all walks of life (dietary requirements/preferences) - but in saying so, if any recipe does not specifically cater for you, make it so it does.  I'd love to hear about the changes anyone has made to one of my recipes - or if you need a few tips I'd be happy to help out.

Furthermore, I hope that some people find this blog and get something out of it, whether it be enjoyment, liberation, confidence, or humour.

About me, Rhiby:

Today, I am a student,  studying nutrition on the beautiful Sunshine Coast in Australia.  I am extremely passionate about the benefits of good, natural, food upon health. However I often feel suppressed and confused.  My beliefs surrounding food are such an important influence on me, and I often feel like I need to bend.  Bend into a totally different way of thinking - like as in dietetics.  But I just have to keep reminding myself.  This is just the first step, the tiny little first step to get me to where I ultimately want to  be.
I also like to advocate (i.e get on my high horse) about our food system/s.  People really need to start thinking about where the food they are eating comes from.  I am constantly asked why this is so. Why? Because it matters, that's why.  It matters to you nutritionally, it matters to society economically, and it matters to the world environmentally.

Don't take my word for gospel, I'm still learning, as is everyone in the nutrition field.  For me, this blog is a string of my thoughts, ideas, and experiences which I find extremely interesting.  Take it as you wish.

Cooking up a storm!

My second greatest passion, is those threads we call clothes that we wear on our backs.  I love to op-shop and go garage sale hunting to make what others have rejected, as my own (also applies to dogs and furniture). I live for that next time that that special piece catches my eye.  So I probably wont be able to help myself, and you will be sure to see some photos of my favourite items along the way.

Enjoy.
